Recognized nationwide as a visionary and pioneer in the field of Animal Law, attorney Barbara J. Gislason works with individuals, families, corporations and governmental entities on both established and emerging legal concerns surrounding animals. Ms. Gislason is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and her law firm is located in Fridley. The law firm's Animal Law practice includes drafting agreements when animals are bought or sold, resolving disputes about ownership, representing people in harassment or disability, municipal land use, zoning, dangerous and exotic animals, deceptive trade practice and defamation, veterinary malpractice, and injury to pets and people proceedings and litigation. Additionally, Ms. Gislason consults with lawyers and experts from around the world on various issues concerning animal welfare and protection, animal property, and the conservation of ecosystems.
Barbara Gislason has been selected as a Super Lawyer by Minnesota Law & Politics and a Leading American Attorney by the American Research Corporation. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, which is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges and law professors whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession.
Ms. Gislason is involved in national and state Animal Law professional organizations, having founded Animal Law Committees for both the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Additionally, her work has been the subject of media attention, and she often gives presentations and lectures on Animal Law and animal issues.
